TCC Art of Wine Tasting Series

Stone Bluff Cellars is the destination on Friday, April 25, 2008, when the Tulsa Community College wraps up its 3-part "Introduction to the Art of Wine Tasting" series. Class participants will travel to Stone Bluff Cellars for a delicious 4-course gourmet meal prepared by Chef Mikael Harp as they learn the winemaking process and learn how to match specific wines to specific meals.

Stone Bluff Cellars Honored at Jefferson Cup Invitational

Because of its reputation for creating premium wines, Stone Bluff Cellars was recently invited to participate in the Eighth Annual Jefferson Cup Invitational on November 29-30, in Kansas City, Missouri. The Jefferson Cup is a different sort of wine competition, in that it is an invitational in which approximately 600 wines, which exemplify viticulture and winemaking in America, are pre-selected, according to Jefferson Cup Invitational founder Doug Frost.

The Jefferson Cup Invitational does not award medals, per se. Rather, the invited wines have all proven their excellence in competitions and wine tasting events throughout the year. We believe that these are wines that are extremely deserving of the nation’s attention, Frost said.

This year, out of 650 chosen wines, the judges chose just over 325 wines to receive the Certificate of American Merit, which honors wines exemplary of their regions and varieties. Stone Bluff Cellars dry white wine, Chardonel received the Certificate of Merit at this year’s competition.

“We are honored to receive the certificate of merit for our Chardonel, which we believe deserves recognition for being typical of the high quality of wine that can be produced in this region.” Chris Lake, Stone Bluff Cellars viticulturalist said.

“We are also pleased to be selected again to be a Jefferson Cup participant, he said. “This is our fifth year to participate in the competition.”
